Meet Robson Ranch author Braxton “Brick” Eisel at our library’s third Authors’ Forum on Thursday, March 27, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Brick is a retired United States Air Force (USAF) Lieutenant Colonel. During his long career, he commanded ICBM test sites, flew E-3 AWAC operations, and worked as an official historian.
Brick is the author of Beaufighters in the Night and Magnum! The Wild Weasels in Desert Storm. He has also written more than 40 magazine articles for leading journals, such as the Smithsonian Air & Space Magazine, FlyPast, Air Enthusiast, and Air Force magazine. He has contributed entries for Air Warfare: The International Encyclopedia and is a member of the American Aviation Historical society.
Post retirement, Brick worked twice as a speechwriter for senior Defense officials. He and his wife Linda, also a retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel, moved to Robson Ranch in 2024.
In his March 27 program, Brick will talk about his books, starting with Beaufighters in the Night, a unique World War II tale combining the then-secret technology of radar with the use of reverse Lend-Lease British aircraft used by rookie American airmen. Following that short presentation, he’ll move into one about the last U.S. combat use of the mighty F-4G Phantom II during Operation Desert Storm of the early 1990s. “Flying as ‘Wild Weasels,’” Brick tells us, “the F-4s were the combat jets first in and last out while defending other aircraft against surface-to-air threats.”
