FOL throws new and improved Puzzle Palooza '23.
By Jane Scholz
Robson Friends of the Library plans its second picture puzzle competition in the library on Nov. 10 and 11. There Robson residents will compete for a trophy and nice cash prizes by speed solving a Robson landscape jigsaw puzzle.
The team that finishes the puzzle in the shortest time will win a trophy and $225. Second place team gets $150 and third place $75. Winners also will get their picture in the November Pioneer Press.
All teams will work the same puzzle: a 16x20 500-piece custom puzzle created from the work of Robson resident Steve Simpson, a talented and technologically skilled photographer who's been shooting aerial images of our neighborhood from a drone for several years.
Steve moved here in 2007 and soon started to develop his retirement passions: drones, photography, and technology. He's president of the Tech and Drone clubs and on the board of the Photo Club.
Puzzle solvers will work in teams of up to three people in four-hour puzzling segments from 9 am to 1 pm and 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm each day. Each segment will start promptly, and play will be monitored. The winning team will be the one that, in the opinion of the organizing committee, finishes the puzzle in the shortest time.
Signups will be required to enter. Sign-up sheets and complete rules will be available at the checkout desk in the library starting Monday, Oct. 16. On Oct. 23, signup will move to the Activity Director's desk in the Clubhouse because the library will become a voting location. You can also see the rules at palooza_rules.pdf (robsonlibrary.org)
Sign-ups will close at noon on Nov. 8. Winners will be announced the following week.
FOL committee members organizing the event are Ed Whelan, Gary Koenig, Joan Pursley and Jane Scholz
So round up your puzzle-loving neighbors and sign up for the fun and competition in the Robson Library starting Oct. 16.
